Fausto's Art Gallery carries a number of traditional Mexican toys. These are mostly hand crafted and they hark back to another era, before the advent of electronic marvels and video games.

Loteria is a charming and fun game from Mexico, which is played almost exactly like bingo, except that drawing cards is the way you see which square you are going to put your token on. The dealer has to call out the name of the object on the card, and in this way, these make excellent "flash cards" for learning Spanish vocabulary.

I bought a whole lot of these several years ago from a guy who was walking around town selling them, and when he finally got tired of that, he sold what he had left to me and went back to Mexico City. They are painted much in the style of the Oaxacan carved animals - the "alabriques".
