NICHOS - The nichos we make are essentially framed boxes with religious images or objects in them. The are done in the style that was popular in the Colonial period and afterwards, with the famous "concha" pattern - a seashell design which represented the cult of Santiago (Saint James) and his shrine at Compostella, Spain. This pattern has been used in religious art, furniture, and especially picture frames since the Middle Ages and possibly even earlier. |
