The Mexico Lindo Restaurant is open again under new management in the location which was formerly the Restaurant “La Fogata” on Calle Juarez in Downtown Ojinaga, two doors up from Fausto’s Art Gallery and just about a block from the town square. The new owners, the “familia Padilla Galindo”, are Jesus Padilla his delightful and gracious wife Socorro Galindo de Padilla, of the extensive Galindo family of San Carlos.

The restaurant is not only set in an excellent location on one of the main streets downtown, but it is spacious, bright, and airy, with comfortable chairs and large, sturdy tables, and the food is simply excellent. It should be noted that Padilla Galindo family owned a tortilla factory in Presidio and so their home made flour tortillas are simply to die for.

The specialty of the house is the “Fajitas Chillonas”, which is a plate of sizzling fajitas with shrimp served on a cast iron griddle, with guacamole, rice, and beans. I might add that the beans, which you can have either refried or whole, and tasty and have that home cooked flavor.

After that, I would recommend the chile con queso and the chiles rellenos, which are also home style - and say that keeping in mind that if you are connoisseur of either of these delicacies, you know already that good chiles rellenos, such as what people serve in their homes, are to find in a restaurant! You will not be disappointed with these. They are big and they are tasty!

Other items on the menu worth noting are the T-bone and rib eye steaks, and the shrimp - served in various styles; mojo de ajo, a la plancha, empanizados, al diablo (hot!), and my favorite, ranchero. Try it! It is good! Another style - very popular in Ojinaga - is “fiesta”, which are the large sized shrimp wrapped in bacon and stuffed with Chihuahua cheese (which is the best cheese for cooking - by the way, according to Socorro).

The alambres - shish kabobs - are also excellent. They are big and juicy, and tasty!

Their seafood includes not only that, but fish in the same styles. Seafood comes up to Ojinaga from Sinaloa on a regular basis and is always fresh, because it is so popular that no one can keep it around long enough for it spoil!

On Friday, Saturday, and Sunday there is an all you can eat buffet, and we tried that already. On the day we sampled it, they had ribs, brisket, and beans, rice, and salad - and three kinds of salsa - red, green, and macho.

They serve four brands of beer: Sol (which is just like Corona), Superior, Dos Equis, and Tecate. They also make fresh coffee - because as you may know, many Mexican restaurants serve that awful instant coffee which tastes terrible. At Mexico Lindo, they only serve fresh brewed Folgers.
