Beside the two groups of Matachines who participated in the main peregrinacion on December 12, another group which marched in all ten processions is the Legion de Maria. An international organization, the Legion of Mary was founded in Ireland in the 1920's, and in Ojinaga, the members are principally devotees of the Virgen de Fatima, and they also take the Eucharist elderly and shut-ins who cannot come to Church in Sundays.

This Feast Day of the Virgin of Guadalupe is possible the most important date in Mexico, having more importance Christmas or Easter or any national holidays of a political or historical nature such as Mexican Independence or Cinco de Mayo

We estimate that at least a thousand people participated in this year's perigrinacion. These were people from all over the city, and most likely the ranchos and people visiting from out of town. This is a very unifying event for the people of Ojinaga and those who have moved to other parts but whose roots are here.
